Abstract

Personal injury accident data for 1965 and 1966 were examined to investigate the various factor influencing skidding in accidents was measured by comparing the percentages of accidents involving skidding (the skidding rate) which occurred under different conditions. In the two years under review skidding was reported in 24 per cent of all road accidents which resulted in death or personal injury: one in three accidents occurring on a wet road involved a skidding vehicle, which was almost twice the rate for dry roads.
