Abstract

In this paper an implementation of the slip based road friction estimation method is described. The purpose of this implementation is to obtain real-time classification of the prevalent road friction coefficient. A real-time system using a linear regression model and a Kalman filter is implemented. Test runs show that the vehicle model and the algorithms are robust and can provide accurate classifications of current coefficient of friction.
