Abstract

SMART 2.1 calculates the quality of various modes of transport, on the basis of which mobility in a large part of the Netherlands is calculated. As with every traffic model, SMART works with geographic zones. At present, the model works throughout the Netherlands, with the exception of the three Northern provinces, and the provinces of Zeeland and Limburg. The division into zones is usually at municipal level, but is more detailed in large municipalities such as Amsterdam and The Hague. In all, this gives 470 zones within the study area. The output of SMART 2.1 consists in part of: (1) trip matrices; (2) network loads; (3) accessibility data; (4) public transport operating costs; and (5) emission data and energy consumption. (A)
