Abstract

Video surveillance systems for traffic management are getting bigger. The importance of reliability is emphasised. Failures in video systems can be monitored by measuring parameters such as condition of the incoming video signal, optical output level, received optical input power, condition of the outgoing video signal, internal status of both transmitter and receiver, operating temperature and condition of the power supply. Most modern systems have the ability to readout crucial transmission parameters. SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) can be used to manage and control the equipment of different vendors. Every unit within the network should be managed with one Network Manager. For the covering abstract see ITRD E115762.
