Abstract

The Sickla Smart Park&Ride Project is a two-year project sponsored by Stockholm Public Transport Authority (SL), Swedish National Road Administration and Atrium Ljungberg as being the owner of the Sickla shopping mall in Stockholm. The main objective is to design, put into practice and demonstrate a smart Park&Ride (P&R) concept, with an emphasis on user aspects and overall traffic reduction. By providing users with relevant mode choice information, drivers will be encouraged to leave the car and ride the train to the city center instead, thus reducing the pressure on the Stockholm street and road network. The theoretical starting point is that a P&R spotthat is designed combining the general attractiveness of public transportand the attractiveness of shopping center increases the total attractiveness of a P&R spot and thus also an intermodal traveling offer. The projectserves the important purpose of creating knowledge about Smart Park&Ride design and demonstrating new technology and intelligent data information bundling.
