The infrastructural measures taken in the project "speed reducing measures on 80-km/h roads in Drenthe" caused a small and over time, decreasing effect. Not all experimental locations were successful however; on one particular location there was no effect, due to partly clear causes. Furthermore it appeared that the extent of the effects is influenced by the road and its environment: on two wide and open roads a larger effect was obtained than on a more winding road shielded with trees and shrubs.
