Abstract

The social costs of accidents are important factors in the evaluation of safety programmes and policies. Appropriate valuation of these costs in necessary for economic utilisation of resources. This report has been produced with that objective and as part of the Ministry of Transport's objective of improving road safety in New Zealand. This report provides the estimates of the social costs of accidents at 1 July 1992 prices.
