Abstract

A system of high-accessibility corridors is ideally suited to Chicago. The size and density of the city ensure a sound basis for urban rapid transit. The existing street pattern is an effective grid system. The real benefits of this system will eventually be measured primarily in social and economic terms but also in terms of positive influences on the physical environment.
