Abstract
Social effects of transport : an overview. Effects of transport are to be categorised into economic, ecological and social effects. Social effects of transport receive much less attention than economic and ecological effects, in spite of the fact that there are indeed many social effects related to transport. This paper presents a definition and a conceptual model for social effects and the relevant determinants, it gives an overview of social effects as found in literature, it presents a categorisation of these effects, and it compares current appraisal methods with this categorisation.
