Abstract

During the first half of the IV Framework programme for Transport Telematics Applications, the project CONVERGE developed a software tool for the analysis of the expected impact of a system implementing an Integrated Transport Environment. A methodology based on the `metamodel' approach was developed for the simulation of system performance without simulating the actual messages exchanged between subsystems and the controlled traffic environment in the classic sense. The methodology was then implemented as an application on top of a software platform that can provide an environment for system modelling and simulation. A few projects have been implementing the metamodel of their architecture so first impressions and recommendations are available.
