Abstract

This paper discusses two aspects of commercial vehicle noise. The first is the use of close fitting noise shields to reduce engine noise. In conjunction with this the problems of reducing the noise of a medium truck to 80 dBA are discussed. The second is commercial vehicle rolling noise. A series of measurements on different surfaces and vehicles has been made to define the level and some of the characteristics of this noise source.
