Abstract

Australian legislators have rejected substantial freeway expansion plans in most of the State metropolises in recent years and are very pessimistic about funding new transit lines. Experiences with exclusive lanes, carpooling, area traffic control, transit fare reductions, and bus signal priority systems are discussed.
