Abstract

The relationship between the two personality variable ''belief in fate or external control'' and ''test anxiety'' was noted. A suggestion was put forward of integrating those two constructions into a general review. Three theories of anxiety were reviewed which all view a belief in fate or chance as one way of reducing high levels of anxiety. The results are discussed and hints for future research are presented.
