Abstract

Many issues including installation and maintenance by direct labour which the author claims can save up to 17½% compared with contracted work, are discussed. Desirable vehicles, plant and depot facilities depend upon the size of the installation. Requirements of sub-depots are mentioned. Street lighting, although reducing night-time accidents by 30-40% introduces an additional hazard in lighting columns.
