Differences in characteristics between cars and trucks, such as driver eye height and headlamp installation, were examined, as well as highway curvature, meeting beam patterns, and headlamp aim. Effects of these variables were evaluated by computer simulation. The visibility distance and glare discomfort effects were measured.
