Abstract

One of the major tasks of studying mathematical techniques and simulation models for the optimization of highway traffic control systems is the undertaking of a comprehensive study of such mathematical techniques and simulation models which have been computerized and are used as either planning tools or for on-line control of highway traffic systems. First efforts which are limited to fixed-time control of signalized intersections with emphasis on associated available computer programs are summarized.
