Abstract

This paper discusses the well known Von Karman formula for the spectrum of the longitudinal component of atmospheric turbulence, and its known deficiencies in fitting data measured in the layer nearest to the ground. An alternative approach is suggested, which is based on the Von Karman formula but provides corrections enabling measured data to be fitted.
