Abstract

The U.S. have in NATO the leadership of the development of the experimental safety vehicle. The basic goal of this E SV program is to stimulate through safety design of the vehicle as a complete system, a quantum jump in vehicle safety performance over the incremental improvements which industry has always made in varying degrees in production vehicles from one model change to the next. The role of the government in this E S V approach is outlined.
