By investigating the delay caused to vehicles on the major road at an uncontrolled priority intersection, an implicit study is made of driver's behaviour in this situation. Two mathematical models are proposed, and their applicability is discussed. The attempt is made to relate the more elaborate of the models to a set of observations on an actual intersection and to compare certain of its predictions with their corresponding sample values. In view of both the preliminary nature of the investigation, and the limited sample of observations available, an encouraging measure of agreement if found. Considerable difficulties in the problems of estimation and goodness-of-fit are encountered.
