Abstract

In order to aid the optimizing of a deterministic model of a traffic signal system a number of delay and queue-length patterns for a single unsaturated intersection have been in indentified and each defined by a set of inequalities on the cycle and phasing of the signals. The work caters for diffusion of platoons. Some attention is paid to the development of strategies for both the optimizing of the model and also for the real-time control of signal systems by computer.
