Abstract

Two prototype bus shelters were evaluated by means of time lapse photography and a user questionnaire. The results reveal the major determinants of waiter placement, and how these interact with the shelter design to critically affect loading/unloading conditions at the site. The results of this examination can lead to shelter designs that are more responsive to creating comfort and safety for the transit rider.
