Abstract

The first year's effort of special accident investigation studies on the alcohol/drug involvement problem (sponsored by the NHTSA) in the city of Boston is described. A total of 50 accidents involving a fatality were investigated. A human factors index was determined via interviews, records, and questionnaires on each driver designated to be "at-fault" in the accident. A hypothetical model operator is described and the results are discussed.
