Abstract

A presentation is given of the most recent information available concerning the effects of the U.S. speed reduction on highway safety. Speed reduction began in November and December, 1973 during the gasoline shortage. Speed limits were reduced in all states by early 1974. The report also examines the collision experience on Ontario's urban freeways. The implications of the U.S. speed reduction for Ontario are discussed.
