Abstract

Speed limits are identified as important safety related content of digital road maps. Due to relatively high rate of change there is the need to investigate whether and how public authorities can be involved in maintenance and supply of speed limit information in order to achieve better data quality than commercial map makers with their centralized approach. The paper describes the experience from the EuroRoadS-test site Bavaria with its system architecture and workflow. Differently achievable methods are introduced and evaluated concerning the resultant quality and the effort involved. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
