Abstract

Speed estimation both in driving and TV observation were studied in order to clarify the characteristics of speed perception in various driving situations and the utility of TV as a simulator. The results show that for the perception of speed, the TV observation situation is much different from that of en route driving. The results of stereoscopic observation, however, were similar to those of en route driving.
