Abstract

Speed profiles of traffic approaching a traffic signal under six different signal displays are examined. There was no significant difference in the speed profiles of traffic approaching a flashing yellow signal indication as compared to a green signal indication. Serious consideration might advantageously be given to a careful study of the relative advantages of both regular and flashing signal control.
