Abstract

Pedestrian and cyclists routes can form the ever returning theme in the varied composition of cities and suburbs. This is justified by the large number of pedestrians and cyclists. Like main roads for car traffic in the cities there should be main routes for walking and cycling within the suburbs and the neighbourhoods. Cars are directed to areas with few pedestrian and cyclist traffic. This concept has been used in Spijkenisse.
