Abstract
First the phenomenon of ghost riders in the Netherlands is examined. An inventory was made of fatal head-on-collisions on motorways between 1968 and 1978. The design of Dutch motorways is examined together with the potential risk locations. A description is given of measures which might alleviate the problem.
