Abstract

The authors begin by presenting the theoretical aspects of studies on the stability of slopes. The conditions of equilibrium are studied by the classical methods of calculation on the basic of sliding circles: Bishop's method of slices in handledonon a Central Laboratory electronic computer. This makes it possible to solve the problems of stability more easily and in specific cases to make calculation graphs. It has been possible in this way to study the influence of the slope of the embankment, of the water level and of cohesion on the safety factor.
