Abstract
The conventional assumptions of the way pavement riding roughness changes with age are reviewed. It is based on time series examination of sample lengths from roughness surveys of New South Wales (Australia).Roads, laboratory tests, results from published papers on pavement behaviour and on material shakedown phenomena.
