Stable dynamics transportation systems.

Abstract

The authors present a new class of transportation models, that they refer to as stable dynamics. They provide a consistent description of stationary flows in a transportation system, are based on intuitive axioms and rely on a very small set of data. The authors argue that these models can be solved for small networks (such as a Braess network) only relying on logical arguments. The authors also identify Braess paradox for a simpler triangular network. Finally, the authors provide stable dynamics simulation experiments results for an intermediary size network (Sioux Fall).
