Abstract

The introduction of a next Dutch National Spatial Structure Note is pushing the discussion with local inhabitants. It is difficult to find support among local participants. Designs and drafts are misinterpreted which can cause a negative spiral. Variables rendered to interchangeable modules `written/drawn' in language of the `urban map', seem tools towards productive participation. `Grassroot participation' in Amsterdam concerning the turnpikes A2 and A10 proofs the surplus value of `urban map based participation'.
