`Stadtinfokoln' is a large research and development project (partly) funded by the German Research and Development Initiative called "Mobility in Conurbations". The aim of the five projects of the initiative is to develop and demonstrate on a large scale new approaches and technical solutions to influence mobility. The projects last up to five years. The aim of this paper is twofold: it firstly provides an overall presentation of the Cologne project 'Stadtinfokoln' and discusses secondly specific aspects of the user interfaces. That part of the paper presents the variety of the many different user interfaces provided by Stadtinfokoln and discusses the results of a "before"-analysis about peoples knowledge, usage and rating of the existing traffic information in Cologne.
