Abstract

The scene of standardisation and the potential value of standardisation for, e.g. the compatibility and interoperability of transport telematics systems will be presented. Standardisation can be performed on different levels, under different rules and with different consequences. These will be presented together with an up to date overview of the situation between European and world-wide (ISO) standardisation. Criteria for the selection and allocation of new work items will be proposed. (A)
