The Stapp Car Crash Journal includes papers presented at the Stapp Car Crash Conference, the premier forum for the presentation of research in impact biomechanics, human injury tolerance, and related fields that advance the knowledge of land-vehicle crash injury and occupation protection. This year's journal contains 24 peer-reviewed papers that cover a wide range of timely and important topics, including: * Abdomen response and simulation * Thorax/shoulder response and injury * Dummy development and performance * Head and neck biomechanics * Extremity biomechanics and simulation. These papers have been contributed by researchers and safety engineers at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Ford Motor Company, Renault, the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, Wayne State University, University of Virginia, Michigan State University and many other companies, organizations, universities, and medical research facilities. Stapp journal papers have been extensively peer reviewed by members of the Stapp Advisory Committee, an international board of experts in impact biomechanics, and have been judged to warrant publication in the open scientific literature. (Author/publisher) For abstracts of the papers presented at the conference see C 30162 - C 30185.
