Abstract
The use of global positioning system (GPS) satellites for transport applications is briefly outlined with particular reference to the STAR-TRACK GPS system developed by GEC-Marconi. Initially designed for fleet management, applications in in-car navigation and tracking stolen vehicles are also envisaged. The system's parameters and components are listed.
