Abstract

This paper highlights the results of an information request used to determine the state of speed zoning in Canada and the United States. The paper discusses the legislation governing speed limits and relays information on how various agencies determine appropriate speed limits for their roadways. Also discussed are the actions a few of these agencies have taken to address the concerns of the public that surround the roadways. The use of school speed zones and their effectiveness in Canada as compared to the United States is also touched upon. (A)
