Abstract

It is shown that the statistical analysis of travel behaviour is complicated by a number of characteristics of the empirical data and that any investigator who does not account for these peculiarities runs the risk of drawing wrong conclusions. A systematic investigation shows how by the use of nonparametric methods and various variable transformations the problems of nonnormality etc. could be overcome.
