This book # Offers a concise, unified presentation of statistical and econometric analytical techniques applied in a broad range of transportation applications; # Begins by reviewing the fundamentals of statistical inference; # Presents only the essential theoretical aspects of statistics, focusing instead on using its methods for problem solving; and # Includes numerous examples and case studies from a broad spectrum of transportation applications. As the field of transportation moves toward the "total quality management" paradigm, performance-based outcomes and quantitative measures have become increasingly important. Measuring performance in the field depends heavily on modeling trends and data, which in turn requires powerful, and flexible analytical tools.
