Abstract

This paper presents a statistical technique for the control of traffic intensity in single-server queuing systems with (1) Poisson arrivals and general services times, and (2) recurrent arrivals and exponential service times. The procedure is described and methods are given to derive these two pairs of control limits, thereby using available transition probability tables and other parameter values.
