Abstract

This document provides basic data on road traffic accidents and casualties in European countries, Canada, Israel and the United States. The accidents included involve personal injury only. Data relate to accidents by nature of accident and surroundings, accidents due to alcohol and the number of persons killed or injured by category of road user and age group. Data on the number of vehicles in use, registration of new vehicles and vehicle-kilometers travelled are provided as background statistics. Figures are given for 1992 and 1993 with 1980 as base year.
