Abstract

An experiment is carried out to study how people with a different status judge a traffic accident. Test subjects were divided in two groups according to the price of their car. These groups were again divided in two groups which pictures were shown. One picture shows an accident between a pedestrian and an expensive car, the other an accident between a pedestrian and an cheap car. People with a lower status judge the quilt of a person with a higher status more severe than in the reverse.
