Abstract
Postponements to infrastructure maintenance and development activities are already having significant safety and environmental impacts in Germany, as in many other countries. This article explains the current expenditure issues for maintenance of the existing road networks. Also discusses is the political framework and fuel tax revenue; toll schemes and the technology involved; and the outlook for passenger car road pricing.
