Abstract

The STAYSAFE Committee was particularly concerned at indications that the number of bicyclist fatalities is increasing, and that the substantial magnitude of the bicyclist injury problem had been grossly underestimated by authorities responsible for bicyclists'safety. Recommendations are made in the areas o f: collection and analysis of appropriate statistics; education; testing of bicyclist proficiency; law enforcement; bicycle helmets; traffic regulations; safety accessories and registration; and roads for bicyclists.
