Abstract

This report arises from a Ministerial Reference requesting STAYSAFE to examine a proposal to introduce a lower urban speed limit in New South Wales. STAYSAFE has concluded that the introduction of a 50 km/h general urban speed limit will bring New South Wales in line with best practice world-wide, and will yield considerable benefits - both social and financial - through reductions in road trauma. STAYSAFE has therefore recommended the adoption of a 50 km/h general urban speed limit in New South Wales. (A)
