Abstract

The objective in this report is to lay down general guidelines about what the role of the police traffic branch should be and how its members can make on improved contribution to road safety in New South Wales. The prime emphasis of the police traffic branch should be on enhancing road safety. Selective enforcement tactics for particularly dangerous locations should be backed up by more widespread campaigns against practices like drink driving and failure to wear seat belts or child restraints.
