Abstract

Many urban communities have not succeeded in fitting the motor car into their structure. This is one of the facts behind the "push" which leads people to move out into the countryside, rather than being attracted by a "pull" from outside. The author expresses his opinion that there should be a spatial planner co-operating with the traffic planner, both being responsible to the same alderman, viz. the one being in charge of Urban Development & Traffic. This guarantees a proper approach to both fields of interest which are interacting so strongly. Training of both sorts of planners should be co-ordinated.
