The steering responses of doubles.

Abstract

The performance of fully laden doubles with respect to lateral stability, frequency responses, and lane change behaviour is calculated using a conventional constant forward speed, yaw and sideslip freedom, linear vehicle model. A novel type of hitch connection, joining the trailer to the tractor semitrailer is proposed and the effects of varying its geometry are determined.
