Abstract

The main objectives of this research on human tolerance of the front seat occupants include; (1) design and fabrication of a crash simulator to permit realistic reproduction of the occupant environment producing the injury, (2) recommendations for the steering assembly design to minimize injuries to the thorax of the driver, and (3) recommendations for design of the dashboard to minimize injuries of the belted passenger that strikes that panel.
