Abstract

This paper presents a relatively short-term ITS scheme currently being implemented at the Stockholm Region of the Swedish National Road Administration (SNRA) in co-operation with other parties, particularly Stockholm Municipality and the Police. A description is given of the overall tasks involved in the scheme, how these will be achieved and the step-by-step developments. The methodology for achieving a well functioning Traffic Management Centre with different organisations is presented as well as the effects of what has been implemented prior to 1997 and the plans until the middle of the year 2000.
